Amy Featherston Potts at the Witte Museum in San Antonio.  This candle mold was used by
Mrs. Joseph H. Polley to make the candles that were used by the first Texas Congress which
assembled in Columbia, Texas.
This Bowie knife was picked up by Joseph H. Polley at the San Jacinto battlefield.
This letter was sent to Joseph H. Polley from his brother Jonathon in 1840.  Joseph H. Polley
came to Texas in 1818 with Moses Austin, returned and cane back with Stephen F. Austin,
becoming one of the "300 Colonists."  He moved to Sutherland Springs in 1847, building the
"Polley Mansion" from materials sent by boat to New Orleans & Galveston, then brought by
wagon to Sutherland Springs.
